Good for
- Bridging a gap between selling one car and insuring the next.
- A month with a family car while yours is repaired or replaced.
- Newly arrived in the UK with an EU or EEA licence and a car to borrow.
- A month-long contract or placement that needs a car.
- Trying out a car before committing to an annual policy on it.
28 days, paid once
No deposit, no monthly instalments, no cancellation fee. The price on the quote is all you pay.
Best daily rate
Four weeks is our cheapest duration per day.
Buy again if needed
When the policy ends, take out another. You are never locked in.
Monthly cover compared with an annual policy
An annual policy priced monthly is a credit agreement: you owe the full year and pay interest to spread it. A 28-day policy is simply a shorter policy. You pay for four weeks, it ends, and there is nothing to cancel. It is the right choice when you genuinely need a month, and the wrong one if you actually need a year.
The standard excess is £500 (£1,000 for drivers under 25). You can reduce it to £250 with the excess reduction option at the quote stage.
What is included
Comprehensive cover throughout, with the same optional extras as every other duration: breakdown and recovery, legal expenses, excess reduction and the European driving extension.
Cover applies in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. For trips of a day or longer you can add the European driving extension.

Questions
Monthly car insurance: common questions
- Is monthly car insurance the same as paying an annual policy monthly?
- No. This is a 28-day policy paid in full up front, with no credit agreement and no commitment beyond the four weeks.
- Can I buy two months back to back?
- Yes. Buy a second 28-day policy starting when the first ends. Each is a separate policy with its own certificate.
- How much is a month of car insurance?
- From £91.77 for an experienced driver in a standard car, including Insurance Premium Tax. The quote shows the exact price for your details.
- Do I earn no-claims bonus on a monthly policy?
- No. Short-term policies do not build a no-claims discount, and a claim on one does not affect any annual policy you or the owner hold.
