What counts as a camper
Choose the camper vehicle type at the quote stage for coachbuilt motorhomes, panel van conversions and campervans registered as motor caravans. If the vehicle is a plain van, choose the van type instead. The vehicle must be worth under £50,000.
Campers are rated higher than cars because of their size and value, and that factor is shown on the quote alongside the others.
What is included
Comprehensive cover for the vehicle as standard. The standard excess is £500 (£1,000 for drivers under 25). You can reduce it to £250 with the excess reduction option at the quote stage. Contents, awnings and personal belongings are not covered.
Cover applies in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. For trips of a day or longer you can add the European driving extension.
Who can buy
Drivers aged 18 to 78 with a full UK, EU or EEA licence. Vehicles must be worth under £50,000, be roadworthy, and have valid tax and MOT where required. You need the owner's permission to drive.

- Can I get temporary insurance on a motorhome?
- Yes. Choose the camper vehicle type when you quote. Cover is available from one hour to four weeks, though most people buy a week or two for a trip.
- Does it cover driving in Europe?
- Add the European driving extension at the quote stage on any policy of a day or longer. It is a fixed price shown separately on your quote.
- Is there a size limit?
- The policy is designed for campers and motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes that can be driven on a standard car licence. Larger vehicles are not eligible.
- Does the policy cover my belongings inside the camper?
- No. The policy covers the vehicle and your liability to others. Belongings, awnings and camping equipment are not insured.
